History
Miss Lenora Detering of Houston opened Miracle Farm in 1982 as a private, Christian residential child-care facility that provided basic care for boys and girls. Miss Detering had a God-given vision for helping children in a serene, country setting and believed that the rolling hillsides of Brenham provided the perfect spot. Not long after Miss Detering’s death, Texas Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services (TBCHFS) in Round Rock, Texas acquired the property for the purpose of offering a boys’ ranch program.
In 1989, Miracle Farm began its current mission as a nonprofit, residential program dedicated to helping at-risk teenage boys and their families to experience new direction and restoration. Today, Miracle Farm is independently incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit agency.
