Round Rock Groups
Throughout the year we provide a variety of groups for children, families and parents. These groups are updated regularly, subject to change, and must be registered for prior to the start date.
Below is a comprehensive list of groups that have been offered in the past and may potentially be offered on a future date.
SAC group: STARRY Adventure Club guides kids through different experiential and creative activities to learn social skills of cooperation, communication, making good choices, managing feelings and dealing with anger. (For children in grades 2nd to 5th grade)
Why Try: This is a strength-based group that helps youths between the ages of 13-17 years old overcome challenges and improve outcomes in the areas of truancy, behavior and academics. "Why Try" teaches social and emotional principles to youth in a way they can understand and remember. The principles taught are resisting peer-pressure, obeying laws and rules, and decisions having consequences.
Love and Logic Parenting: "Love and Logic" is a parenting curriculum that goes by the philosophy that parents should not work harder than their children and that the best parents use their heads and their hearts. It utilizes easy-to-use techniques and skills to help make parenting more fun and less stressful. It can be used with all ages and all different types of parents.
Surviving Middle School: This group guides middle school students through different experiential and creative activities to learn social skills, cooperation, communication, good choices, feelings, personal growth and development.
Girl Power: Girl power is a group for adolescent girls between the ages of 12-16 years old who are figuring out what it means to be a teenage female in today’s world, who they are, and what they want for themselves in the future.
Support Groups: Support groups are simply a way in which people with common struggles come together to encourage and support one another. These groups can be lead by a counselor or can be member-led. It is a way for people to connect with one another and know that they are not alone.
